Inscription.

1817 Erected by Elizabeth Gardiner, Merchant, Dundee, in memory of her husband Thomas Miller, Shipmaster, who died 28th December 1808, aged 47 years; Also eight of their children, all interred here.

Memento Mori.

Weep not, my dear, when this you see,

Prepare yourself to follow me;

My time was come, my glass was run,

The will of God it must be done.

Dundee 29 July 1858 permission granted to James F. Miller and Alexander M Miller grandchildren of Elizabeth Gardiner, relict of the late Thomas Miller, to remove the old stone and replace it by another (743-2), per council minute of this date.
