A sorrowing son caused this monument to be erected to Patrick Yeaman of Blacklaw, a man illustrious for the benevolence and integrity of his life, a kind father, a good, sure, and distinguished citizen, who having five times honourably filled the office of Provost died, lamented by his children and all good men, on the 8th of the calends of March, in the year from the birth of Christ 1767, and of his own 70.
