1818 Erected By JAMES LYON Perth Road in memory of his father JAMES LYON who died April 15th 1818 aged 63 years revised by WILLIAM ADAM Agent Dundee in memory of the above JAMES LYON who died 27th March 1840 aged 54 years also his mother MARGARET LYON who died the 1st July 1844 in the 82nd year of her age and of his father ANDREW ADAM who died the 15th Feby 1845 in his 80th year also ELIZA FERGUSON his daughter died 16th April 1845 aged 1 year 12 June 1840 Revisal dues paid by William Adam, Agent a cousin of James Lyon in terms of a letter by John Lyon, Forfar as mentioned in minute of Committee on the burying ground and bleaching green of 2nd June 1840 Source:Register of Tombs and Monuments in Dundee Burial Ground, 1832 Original Inscription. 1818. Erected by James Lyon, Perth Road, in memory of his father James Lyon, who died 15th September 1818, aged 63 years. Sacred to the memory of Mr John Lyon, Botanist ( Brother of the late James Lyon ), who travelled the Southern wilds of N. America, brought a collection of plants to London in 1806, another in 1812, but perished in a third attempt at Nashville, N. Carolina on the 14th August 1814, where his remains are interred, aged 49.
