Erected By Mrs Janet Smith or Mutrie In memory of her father James Smith gardener Chapelshade Dundee who died 5th July 1813 Aged 89 years Also of her mother Janet Slater who died 12th April 1804 aged 52 years Her former husband David Livingston Junr Manufacturer Hilltown Dundee Who died 12th August 1826 Aged 33 years James Livingston Her son who died Cainfugos Island of West Indies on the 23rd February 1847 Aged 21 years Lamented by the family. Also Alexander her son Who died on his passage from New Orleans to Dundee On the 28th August 1855 Aged 24 years Her daughter Elizabeth Livingston or Hill Who died 20th December 1866 Aged 42 years.
29th October 1846, revisal dues paid by Mrs Janet Smith wife of Mutrie for permission to remove the old stone (520) which belonged to her father James Smith, Chapelshade and to erect a new one in its place in terms of minutes of Hospital Committee of 20 Oct 1846
