 Sacred to the memory

of

ALEXANDER DUNCAN D.D.

Rector of Whalton and Vicar of Rolam

Northumberland

who died at Whalton Rectory

July 24th 1816 aged 69 years

Was buried at the chancel of Whalton Church

and left survivinig MARGARET his wife

with nine sons and three daughters

of whom

JAMES JOHNSTON DUNCAN

Surgeon H.E.I.C.S died

at Dundee June 15th 1830 aged 36 years

ROLLO and ANDREW DUNCAN

twin brothers Master Mates R.N.

also died

ANDREW on board HMS Ban Port Bell S.A.

October 1819 aged 25 years

ROLLO perished on HMS Arab off the coast of Ireland December 1823

aged 29 years

Also JOHN ROLLO 7th Son 2nd Master

of HMS Daphne who died off Cadiz

April 12th 1839 aged 33 years

He was buried on the glacis of that city

Also Capt A.C. DUNCAN R.N. 6th Son

who died here 19th July 1845 aged 40 years

and laterly in comand of HM Coastguard Antrim Ireland
