John MacLean, merchant, 1696

 

Here restes in the Lord iohn mackcleen, merchant in dundie, who departit this life the 10 of ianuarie, 1696, and his age 75 years; and his spous Agnes Froster, with seuerall of their children.

In heaven ther souls remaine ;

Heads of ane honest familie ;

There fame will never be forgot,

Though in the grave do rot ;

Reader, though little be set forth,

Blaime thou my pen, and not their worth."

Here rests in the Lord John McLean, merchant in
Dundee, who departed this life, 10 January 1696. His
age 75. And his spouse Agnes Froster, with several of
their children.
