Erected by Robert Millar, merchant, Dundee, in memory of Mrs Jean Scott his spouse, daughter of the late David Scott, minister, Auchterhouse. With the happiest equanimity of temper and manners the most endearing, was her life active, voituous and full of goodness; adorned, cheerful, and happy in her virtues, and beloved by her friends. She was desirous to live, yet prepared to die; alike in death as in life, exemplary. She died 4th August 1802.
