Inscription.

 Monument erected by Christian Clerk in memory of her husband David Meall, brewer, 1642.

 

The Latin inscription is :-

 

"Spectatae pietatis et probitatis viro David Meall brasiatori civi Deidonam Christiana Clerk conjunx fidissima in memoriam de suo ponebat obiit decimo mensis Martii anno domino 1642, aetatis suae 44.

 

"Incertum est quo loco te mors expectet tu illum omni loco expectatae."


Christian Clerk, a most faithful wife, of herself erected this to the memory of her husband David Meall, Brewer and citizen of Dundee, a man of tried worth and honesty, who died the 10th day of March, in the year of the Lord 1642, and of his age 44.
