John Hildebrodde's Epitaph.
This is an extract from The Evening Telegraph, Tuesday, September 7, 1897.
The writer describes the monument, "until recently the following epitaph could be seen on a flat moss grown tombstone in the Howff, an old burial ground in Dundee:-
Here lies old John Hildebrodde;
Have mercy on him, good God,
As he would do if he were God
And thou were old John Hildebrodde."
