This stone was erected by WILLIAM LYELL shipmaster in Dundee in memory of his mother MARGARET BETTAY who died the 29` of April 1774 aged 72 years as also his son PETER LYELL who died the 17` of August 1774 aged one year & 3 months HELLAN LYELL his daughter who died the 27th of May 1775 aged 3 years.
