Erected By ALEXANDER KIDD Merchant in Dundee To perpetuate the memory of his Father Capt THOMAS KIDD who died on the 28th of December 1836 aged 65 years He was much and deservedly respected by numerous class of friends his sole wish being to do good and live at peace with everyone he took a very great interest in, and devoted much of his time to the public Charities of Dundee, besides making himself generally useful by acts of benevolence His father ALEXANDER KIDD shipmaster died on the 9th day of August 1826 aged 26 years also his daughter's ISOBEL, HELEN & ELIZA who died young and are interred in front of this stone. 1794 Alex. Kidd, shipmaster, Dundee. Claimant: Thomas Kidd Esq, Magdalane Yard. 1839 July 20th Revisal dues paid by Alex Kidd, ironmonger for permission to erect a new headstone in terms of minute of Committee of 19th July current, which reserves rights of other parties. This stone was erected by Alexander Kidd, Shipmaster in Dundee, in memory of Helen Guild his spouse, who died the 27th July 1790, aged 44 years; Also James, Janet, Ann and Peter, their children, who all died young.
