At a meeting of the Cemeteries Committee of Dundee Town Council yesterday, a letter was submitted from Mr Hunter of Blackness requesting permission to erect a gate on what is called the Blackness Tomb in the Howff. It was mentioned that this tomb belonged to the representatives of the late Mr William Wedderburn, and that a good many years ago, when the late Mr Hunter of Blackness interfered with the tomb, his action was stopped both by the Town Council and representatives of the Wedderburn family. Having regard to other facts and circumstances, it was agreed to decline to allow Mr Hunter to erect a gate as proposed. At the same meeting tenders were submitted for the new toolhouse at the Eastern Necropolis, and the Clerk was authorised to deal with the same.
